This book is not all about Drew Peterson. Dr. Dan wanted to write a book that would be an answer the question “What five books in your family library do you wish to pass on to your children and grandchildren?” Hopefully some day he will write one.
In “Analyzing Monsters – Family Cures” Dr. Dan exhibits tough love and plays Devil’s advocate with many monsters and monstrous events that threaten our families. His findings and analysis are presented throughout the Book. Dr. Dan has interviewed, supervised, evaluated, analyzed, and tested Drew Peterson over separate decades. He has accumulated over a thousand hours with Drew Peterson and his family.

As a cure for families, the Book recommends that all of us move beyond the monstrous ego and money oriented selfishness of “Modern Medicine,” “Modern Banking,” “Modern Justice,” “Modern King Government,” and “Modern Me.” Dr. Dan advocates we thread old-fashioned family values into the solutions and cures of new Smart Systems™. Our “modern” institutions need serious rehab in order to assist not just one but all members of today’s family with respect, care and love. “ANALYZING MONSTERS” (THE DREW BOOK)

The flight from DuPage Airport just northwest of Chicago had been relatively smooth considering Dan was co-piloting the sturdy single prop Cessna into some pretty angry northern winds. As he headed the plane into Mad City Wisconsin, Lake Monona sparkled slowly as the ivory Capitol building suddenly appeared far away in the distance. It looked like a beacon on the Isthmus. The view of all the buildings on the thin island was too breathtaking. The Capitol is the identical twin of our nation’s Capitol building in Washington D.C. Just beyond the long and narrow isthmus appeared Madison’s largest body of water Lake Mendota. Five years earlier, Rock Legend Otis Redding and six others crashed and died in the sizeable frozen Lake on December 10, 1967.

Dan was hired and under contract to evaluate and provide consultation for Madison General Hospital. Little did he know at the time that this routine hospital and rehabilitation program analysis would lead to his eventual directing and severely rehabbing the Hospital’s rehabilitation program in 1973. Dan brought one of his harder working and more motivated clinical interns from Hines Veterans Administration Hospital to observe and assist him during the consultation process. As the small private plane banked east towards the Dane County Regional Airport and Truax Field, Dan said to his single, slightly pimpled and somewhat date challenged intern, “OK take her in. …Drew…”

Several decades later, Dr. Dan was casually listening to the news from his office/home in the rolling hills of Clermont just west of Orlando. The television screen flashed, “Police Sergeant Drew Peterson is under suspicion for the disappearance of his fourth wife Stacy. His third wife Kathleen Savio was found dead in her tub in 2004.” Dr. Dan was reminded of the Drew Peterson he practiced karate and flew planes with years ago before Peterson joined the Army. That was before Drew Peterson enlisted in the Army. He thought, ”I should give Peterson a call and just blurt out, “Hey Drew, long time no see – how is your love life?” Not suspecting the media alleged double murderer was the Peterson he knew, Dr. Dan tuned out somewhat. Then, there it was again, the news commentator this time mentioned the alleged killer cop was a pilot. More information was revealed. The media murderer was from the Chicago area. His picture appeared onscreen. Dr. Dan’s casual internal thought process turned immediately to vocalization…Drew!

I spent time with Drew Peterson and his engaging younger children over the 2007 Holiday Season. As a family advocate I believe we need to focus more on the family members of the accused and incarcerated. The Book “Analyzing Monsters – Family Cures” should be in every family library.
